Music Notes: “Nurturing Your Endorphins”

WELCOME IN A NEW YEAR BY TRYING SOMETHING NEW:  JOIN THE CHOIR!

When composing your New Year’s Resolutions, consider including joining the choir as a possible choice!  Singing in a church choir provides so many wonderful benefits for both the singer and the congregation:  Science supports the facts that singing increases overall brain activity, including memory capacity, creativity, and stimulation of endorphins (making one “feel better” both mentally & physically). Singing in a choir is a SOCIAL event, and builds teamwork, encourages people to take creative risks, and provides a great social outing in a supportive environment. Singing in a church choir specifically enhances the worship experience for all, and provides an aesthetic aspect to the spiritual that helps to deepen one’s relationship with God. Singing is a joyful experience!  It’s all about “making a joyful noise unto the Lord!” Even if you think “you can’t sing”, think again!  All God’s children have a place in the choir!  Make 2018 the year for you to find your place in the choir!  We look forward to seeing some new faces join our wonderful singers in the new year!  [Laurence Tallman]
